I’m buying a new battery for the Corvette. Not that it makes much of a difference, but, what are your favorite batteries? I’m not going to pay the price for an Optima, so that’s not an option. Probably either Diehard or Interstate, but I’d be interested in your opinion.

Geo Storm wagon for your time.

I've had good luck with Napa. Avoid Duraladt and SuperTech at all costs.

Lithium ion batteries, much lighter and they last longer.

I think Centennial Batteries have the best price for performance and warranty. I went through Battery Systems and got an AGM which has a really good warranty and was super cheap (compared to others).

I also have Braille Battery AGM in my Mercedes (my Golf has the Centennial). I haven’t had a problem with it, and they have ridiculous amounts of power. They’re just more expensive but offer way more compared to Optima.

I ran an interstate in my 3 for many years with no problem.

I’d say you’re good with the Interstate. The last one I had in Crusty lived from 2003-2015.

depends on the optima..... the dual post (top and side combo) tend to short themselves out after about 6 years, but the single posts keep on going pretty good...... havent bought a new one in a little while.

I don’t even know if I have a Napa around here, actually. Yeah, I was looking into Duralast for a bit because their warranties are good, but I’ve chosen against it.

Gotcha. Cool. Where do they sell Duracell batteries?

Never heard of a Lithium Ion battery in a car?

Cool, never heard of either of these brands? Those Centennial batteries look pretty decent. The Braille batteries are a little pricey for me, but are good to keep in mind.

The Centennial batteries have great prices. I think I paid $130 or something for an AGM for my Golf, but that’s my shop price. But I think it retails for around $175, which is super cheap for the warranty they offer and the power.

They’re out there, expensive but they weigh a third of what a lead acid battery weighs, they last longer, and can be deep cycled unlike a lead battery. If you do drain it you’ll need a smart charger, though. http://www.jegs.com/p/Lithium-Pros…

Interstate for sure. They’re the only batteries they use at my tech school and every car guy I know runs an Interstate.

Damn. Yeah, I got an old Interstate in there right now. It was good when I bought it, but now it’s not holding a good charge.

Came here to throw in a word for Deka too. I had never heard of them until my battery died while I was trying to drive away from my local lube shop a few years back. (Don’t hate this place does Royal Purple for like $5 more than just the cost of 5 qts of RP at the parts store.) Deka is what they had and threw in for me and it did great. The TX heat kills batteries quick, so anything that lasts more than a few years gets my recommendation.

It’s a 50/50 split between Optima and Interstate. My tech school uses Interstate, a handful of car guys I know, which is a lot use Optima. The way I see it, it all comes down to personal preference.

I'm gonna be the weird guy who says Magnetti Marelli because I can get a discount. It's also fun being different. Just don't get a crap AAA battery and you're good. Most batteries are made by a few companies anyways.
